How butterfly valves work
Butterfly valves are particularly suitable for clean and slightly contaminated, inert and corrosive media as well as low cycle duties. For example, butterfly valves are used in waterworks, sewage treatment plants and for inventory/stocking applications.
The animation shows an example of how a butterfly valve works. By illustrating the way in which the medium flows through the body and how it is shut off, it demonstrates why butterfly valves are not suitable for fast cycle duties, for example.
