Lightweight and compact: GEMÜ plastic multi-port valve blocks
Complex functionalities in the control of liquids, gases and steam are these days generally carried out in many applications by means of numerous individual valves. These are connected to one another by similar numbers of fittings and piping. But this takes up a lot of space and assembly is time-consuming because of the much higher number of individual components – not to mention a high hold-up volume and a lot of dead space between valve seats. Also, every assembly point and pipe connection is a potential leak, which increases the safety risk. Plastic pipe systems are often also used with corrosive media such as acids and alkalis because of their excellent chemical resistance. Leaks in these situations can be particularly dangerous.
GEMÜ has therefore used its experience in stainless steel multi-port valves gained from the pharmaceutical industry to implement valve functions which now also use plastic multi-port valve blocks. For example, it has been supplying companies in the chemical industry and environmental systems for several years now. At the same time, GEMÜ also offers special solutions for the microelectronics and semiconductor industry.
The video shows the philosophy behind the development of plastic multi-port valves as well as how they are designed and manufactured.
